Hi everyone!
I almost missed this except for the fact that member Janet just posted about National Mental Illness Awareness Week on our Schizophrenia site. Having this awarness week seems incongruous to the fact that so many states are cutting back on funding and services for the mentally ill. It simply does not seem to be a priority for our lawmakers.
At any rate, here is the link to NAMI and their information about this week (October 3-9) and they are stressing the fact that this is an election season.
NAMI is also advocating to watch a special PBS documentary called, Unlisted: A Story of Schizophrenia.
It is of particular interest to me as my mother suffers from schizophrenia. They give the air dates as well as information about how to buy the film.
Just wanted to pass this information along to you. For more information please vist the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) website.
