Hello everybody!
Been thinking about the number of questions we get about medications. And is sort of scares me to think that so many of us are not getting adequate information about our medications from our doctors. I had a personal experience recently where my son's neurologist...

Many doctors get their pharmaceutical information from drug company reps, who get their information from drug companies who aren't known for their honesty. Most doctors see too many patients and don't have time to research.
I think anyone who's prescribed a medication or caring for someone who's prescribed a medication should research it, themselves, and discuss it, with their pharmacist, BEFORE the prescription's filled.
There's more than a little truth to the sayings: "talk ain't cheap; it's free" and "doctors bury their mistakes". There are risks in taking any medication; Aspirin can cause gastrointestinal bleeding and Reyes Syndrome. It's up to you to determine what the risks are and decide whether or not they're worth taking.
You have a definite point here. It is wise to research your medications ahead of time to know all the risks. I wonder how many people do this though.
Thanks for your comment.
Obviously, not enough people do this as sales of pharmaceuticals haven't plummeted, the pharmaceutical companies aren't producing safer products, there's been no massive outcry for cures, of the numerous curable diseases and conditions, or even more effective treatments.
