Dancing With the Stars Kirstie Alley Fall and Recovery

By Merely Me, Health Guide Tuesday, April 12, 2011
Hi everybody   Are any of you watching Dancing with the Stars?  I must admit that I am hooked on that show.  I have always loved dancing despite the fact that I have two left feet.  I took a ballroom dancing class once in the community and it showed me how extremely difficult it...

I have come to like Kirstie Alley, when I never really did before, from her performance on DWTS. She has impressed me with her attitude, and playfulness of herself, which you've mentioned. A great personality.

I think her troubles have endeared her more to me than her whole, long career in acting. I like how she laughs about the problems, and how she tries so hard to get her routine flawless and plays through pain.

I knew she was supposed to sit down in that part of her dance, but not, as it appeared, to play with her feet!

Then I realized what had happened and how she tried to fix it quickly, She was, and is, a very cool person. Her partner did a good ad-lib job, I thought.

BUT, I'm sorry, being from Pittsburgh, I must remain a very impartial supporter of Hines Ward, that man gives everything, all he's got, every minute. He is just great, and with a fun side.

So, your girl can finish second, I don't mind. :)

But if she finishes first, that's fine with me, too. Good luck!

P.S., I called in for Hines three times last night!

Here we go Steelers here we go!

Okay...this is a legitimate reason to vote for Hines.  Despite the fact that I am from Pittsburgh too I am still rooting for Kirstie!  But I bet she won't win.  Hines will probably win due to your three phone calls.

We shall see what happens!

I no longer have television service, but I only watched Dancing With the Stars maybe once.  It was kind of interesting to see what they were able to accomplish in such a short time, but not interesting enough to make me want to see it again.  I don't like American Idol, either, or any of those similar shows.  I go for the crime and law shows.  But what I do admire in folks is their ability to keep going, like Kirstie, despite the odds and despite the past.

Yeah I always like the underdog.  But more so...someone who has life challenges but can keep coming back fighting.

What kind of law and crime shows do you like?

Good to see you...how are things going?

Kristy Alley all the way. I'd love to see her win.

Yay!

I hope she wins too.

I also like K Alley.  I think she is woderful.  I love that she does not care what anyone else thinks.  I wish I had that trait.  I also like Kendra.  I am not sure why.  Maybe because she does not seem to care what others think either.  She just does and says whatever she thinks and is feeling.  I like that about her.

Wish I could dance like them.  I think it is fabulous that you were brave enough to take a dancing class MM.  Bravo!  :)

Hey Rena!

I am glad you found your way back to the site.  Do you still need any links?

Yeah my class was a lot of fun.  It was taught by a couple in their 70's.  They were exceptional and had been ballroom dancing for decades.  It would be fun to take another class.  I was horrible at it but it was fun and that is what counts.

Great to see you.

Thanks MM.  I think taking classes is a wonderful thing for people.  It is such a good way for us to socialize, interact and keep our minds moving.  I just checked on a Zumba class in my town today.  Gotta get moving!

It has been a while since I felt well enough to post.  I have been reading here but not feeling well enough to interact much.  I had carpal tunnel release surgery on both hands plus, I stopped my Cymbalta due to it losing its umph after 5+ years.  NOTE:  I should not have done both of these things at the same time.  Bad move by me.  I was not near as tough as I thought I was.  Embarassed

I tried generic wellbutrin and it...Kicked Me To The Curb!  I am now taking Lexapro and it seems to be beginning to do its job and help me out of my "dark cave".

I would like your blog link, if I could, please.  I need to get back into the "Land of the Living".  Thanks again for noticing and posting.  It means a lot! Smile

Hi MM and all,

I would prob. get hooked if I did watch it like American Idol.  I do love watching that.  It is prob. similar.

I like your question, MM.  I admire, too people who are themselves, can laugh at themselves, have fun, not take themselves or life too seriously and are candid and open books for people to relate to.  Are not afraid to tell and share their full humanness with others. Who love and honor animals and the Earth.  Have a quiet connection with God. Are gentle, light souls whos energy just lifts others up.   I love being with or watching these types of people. And who laugh genuine belly laughs and find things in life continuously that are funny many moments all day long, especially themselves.

thanks for the post,

Marishka

Hey Marishka

I have not kept up with American Idol...when that Simon was on I know so many people liked him but he was so mean it became hard for me to watch.  It seemed like for awhile they made fun of people who had special challenges and I didn't like that.  Not sure how the show is now with the new crew.

Great to see you...I have some major catching up to do to read your recent posts.

I love Kirstie and Maks together - they obviously have such a great time together. Maks is always more enjoyable when he's having fun and I haven't seen him have this much fun since he was partnered with Mel B! They are one of my favorite couple, but Ralph Macchio and Karina are good, too. Not to mention Kym and Hines!

I took ballroom dancing lessons as a child before I started using a wheelchair and although I never got much further than the basics of the waltz, it was something I enjoyed a lot. I like to pretend that I would be really good if I was on DWTS. Wink

The thing I love most about the show (other than the dancing, Tom Bergeron, the judges, Our Pros, the sequins, the occasionally horrible interpretation of songs... Okay, everything) is that it makes me happy. The only way to survive elimination is to do better, so there's no alliances or backstabbing, just people having a good time and it shows in how much the pros and the stars from each season genuinely like each other - they talk a lot about being family. And then there is the dancing, Tom Bergeron, the judges, etc. and it all just makes me smile. Which is a good thing for a Monday.

I am so glad you watch the show Lene.  Isn't it fun?

yeah the interpretation of some of the songs are kinda...weird.  Like the fiddles for "walk this way."  That was...not to my liking.

Maks does seem happier and more carefree with Kirstie.  He had made some not so nice comments about some of the female dancer's weight so I have been waiting to see how he handles dancing with a woman who...struggles with her weight and so far he has been nothing but a gentleman.

I like the waltz too...it is so elegant.  They really get on the dancers for their posture.  It must be so hard to remember all that and get the footwork too.

It is wonderful to see you.  Thanks for popping by!

I've always thought it was just an excuse to be bored. And after realizing that all I'm doing is seeing the same thing over and over again I quit watching. Wish I could do the same with my depressionWink

It doesn't interest me at all anymore.

I hear you.

TV programming in general has gone downhill in some respects.  We have all these channels yet it is hard to find something good.  Why I remember when there were only four channels and saturday morning cartoons.  and typewriters.  and card catalogs.  and....what were we talking about?  :>)

Thanks for your comment.  Good to see you.
