My question for you today is: Have you ever felt different than everyone else due to your depression? Have you ever felt like you don't fit in? If so, how does your mood disorder contribute to these feelings?
One author who has explored being different is John Elder Robison who has just written a book entitled, Be Different: Adventures of a Free-Range Aspergian. Robison writes from the point of view of a person who has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, an autism spectrum disorder. In his book Robison gives tips and suggestions of how to navigate a world in which being different is not always embraced.
You can hear about Robison's book and more on...Health Central's new...drum roll please...AUTISM SITE.
I have personally been waiting for this to happen since...well since I began writing for Health Central back in the summer of 2008. I happen to know a little about autism since my youngest son was diagnosed with this disorder shortly before his fourth birthday. So I am very excited about this creation and to be a part of it.
You can read my first two posts on our new autism site by following these links. Comments are absolutely welcomed. I see some of you have already found my autism writings and thank you for that. We would like to create a buzz about the site so please...spread the word.
I hope your week is going well. I am going to be coming around to see what you have written in comments, questions, and shareposts. Looking forward to hearing about your day and week so far.
Thank you to everyone who participates on this site and all the other Health Central sites. We can't do it without you!
