What's Happening on Health Central?

Merely Me Health Guide
  • Hi everyone!

I hope you have been having a good week so far.  Wanted to share some links to some articles and posts you may have missed.  If you have not yet explored some of our other Health Central sites this is a good time to do so.  There is a lot of information and support for whatever you may be dealing with whether it is a mental health or medical issue.

    • Sleep Wonderful Sleep!

We have been discussing sleep issues this week on MyDepressionConnection.  Many of you responded to our question of the week about how to get good sleep with some great suggestions.  For those of you who are having sleep problems you may find both information and support on MySleepCentral.

    • Do You Crave Perfection?

If so you may be setting yourself up for stress and anxiety.  I know because I have experienced this first-hand.  In my latest post for our anxiety site I discuss the reasons why some of us strive for perfection.  In a subsequent post I will address how to reduce the stress associated with perfectionism.

    • What is it like to be hospitalized for your mood disorder or mental illness?

Christina Bruni, writer and community leader for our schizophrenia site describes her personal experience of being treated in the hospital for mental illness.  She shares survival tactics for anyone who needs to have an in-patient stay in the hospital.

    • Is it really a yeast infection?

Many women think they have a recurring yeast infection when really it could be a chronic skin condition.  Read my latest post on SexualHealthConnection to find out which dermatological skin conditions can mimic not only a yeast infection but also genital herpes

    • Is homeschooling right for you and your child on the autism spectrum?

I never thought I would be a parent who homeschools.  But I have been doing this now for over a decade for my son who has autism.  If you would like to read how we made this decision come and read my latest post on our autism site about homeschooling a child with special needs.

We have lots of good stuff in store for MyDepressionConnection including an interview with Karen Lee Richards of our chronic pain site who will be sharing her expertise and personal experience in coping with both depression and chronic pain.

If you have never posted to this site before now is a great time to begin.  We can use all the participation and voices we can get.  There is strength in numbers.  We want to hear what you have to say.  Without you...this site does not exist. You are vital to this community and we would love to get to know you.

    Reach out!  We are listening.
