Depression, Favorite Seasons & Reasons: Intense Emotions, Peacefulness, Choice

Merely Me Health Guide

    Hi all!

I didn't get to do my Mid-week Muse this week so how about an end of week Muse?

The theme this week is "Autumn".  In these parts Fall is just beginning and the days are growing shorter.  For some people this season can trigger sadness.  But for me...autumn has always signaled the awareness of change.  Autumn has always been my favorite time of year.  I love the cool crisp air...the scents of wood burning...and the change of colors.  It is a time to hunker down for the long winter ahead.

Here are some quotes for this season reminding us of Autumn and change:

This first one...I wrote.   As old layers are stripped away, the self gradually bares itself, ready for the winter to come.

Coldly, sadly descends the autumn evening.  The field strewn with its dark yellow drifts of wither'd leaves and the elms fade into dimnes a pace silent. ~ Matthew Arnold

Even God cannot change the past. ~ Aristotle

The goal is to change the changeable
And to adjust to the unchangeable.
     ~ Thomas Palino

Autumn to winter, winter to spring
    Spring into summer
    Summer into Fall,
    So rolls the changing year, and so we change;
Motion so swift we know not that we move.
     ~ Dinah Mulock Craik

Oh lift me as a wave, a leaf, a cloud!
I fall upon the thorns of life!  I bleed!
A heavy weight of hours has chained and bowed
One too like thee:  Tamless, and swift and proud
Make me thy lyre, even as the forest is
What if my leaves are falling like its own
The tumult of thy mighty harmonies
Will take from both a deep, autumnal tone,
    Sweet though in sadness. ~

How about you?  What is your favorite season?  What changes would you like to make during this time?  Please feel free to share any images, poetry, writings, or other artistic expressions about the change of seasons.
