My husband and I both have BP

By grammyat50 Thursday, February 04, 2010

Foot in mouth We both have bi polar!! Talk about problems. He yells at me all of a sudden for nothing. I retreat and end up self-abusing me. Or breaking MY stuff. He'll tell me he is having a bad day and I respect that. I tell him when I am having a bad day and he could care less.

It sounds horrible. And at those few times it is. But we really do love one another. We are good together the rest of the time. There are times that sometimes I want to leave. But I have no place to go. I have been divorced 2 times already and am 51. I will be 52 in May. I don't want to be alone. All in all we have a good give and take relationship.

Last week out of no where he even told me that when we get home {we are in FL until the end of March} he is going to his Dr and discuss his angry outbursts. HE said that without me saying anything about it. That gave me and still gives me hope. Wink

Hello there!

I am happy you have found My Depression Connection.  I was thinking as I read your post that the adage that opposites attract...I never found to be true.  People who form relationships...they usually do have a lot in common.  I can imagine one advantage of having a partner who has the same mood disorder, is that you can better understand what the other is going through.  It must be difficult though, during the times when you both are experiencing tumultuous moods.  I have a good friend who is very similar to me with moods and...I just *know* when she is depressed and likewise for me.  But when we both are up...we sure have a good time.

Do you find that your moods are usually in sync or are there times when he is down and you are up, or vice versa?  How is that to deal with?

This is really good that he has initiated talking about his anger...this shows he really cares.

Thank you so much for sharing here.  I do hope you make yourself at home and...that you write more.  We want to hear more of your story.
