Hang Time for SSDI

By Ricovring Monday, December 21, 2009

After only 2 1/2 years, one denial, and help of attorney specializing in SSDI appeals, I talk to Judge for 3-5 minutes and, voila, approved! Hope your attempts are smoother, but I'm told I am the exception. Get all the "inside" help you can is my advice. Start by contacting someone at NAMI is also my advice. Ask around for people who know how to get approved.

Good for you, Ricovring!  I know this is a rocky road.  My son has been disabled since birth and even with that, there were some trying times but you're right, it certainly does help to get to know people who work with this stuff all the time.  Thanks for sharing your success story!

My mother has schizophrenia and tried to get disability benefits many years ago and it was a fight despite her obvious challenges.  But we appealed and she did get her benefits thank goodness.  It is like they want to see who is serious about this or not.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
