Hi Pandora, Im living in Ireland so hello from across the World. Im not long on this site, Im a good deal older but have had Depression since childhood [didnt know it then] also panic disorder and Social phobia. I act my way through situations but try and avoid them. Because of this ive lost alot of friends. Guess people just get fed up with my excuses. I am TRYING. Depression would be the greatest problem at the moment but Ive anxiety as well. Are you getting any help for yourSocial phobia? I find that I do things in tiny steps, I meet a friend for a coffee and look around the shops, Im very assertive in certain situations, ive given talks over the years, appeard on tv and spoke on radio when I worked with homeless people, but when it comes to parties or dating, Im very phobic and have to take sedatives. Still I am trying !! Hope you find help and encouragement on this site.

Thats Great Pandora ! Its like Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway ! you go through the motions, Ive found breathing is extremely helpful for anxiety symptoms like Vertigo and flushing and perspiring etc., the thing is Pandora, when I DO manage to get out, I feel SO good when I c ome back !! Stick with the Group and best of luck. contact me anytime.
ye i know its going 2 b hard but i have 2 do it! breathing is very good and getting out even beta if u stay home alone u just think about it more and it gets worse. i wish u all the best with ur stuggles 2:)
Thanks Pandora, We have a v good Group here in Dublin but the waiting list is very long. Seemingly, alot of people suffer greatly with it but we just dont know coz they live silent lives of desparation. Nobody would know from me either, its part of the Depression and Anxiety and phobia thing. I think its about Self Esteem and also Avoidance, its so EASY to avoid and yet, this behaviour just feeds the phobia and the Depression and we become isolated and more lonely and Depressed and its a cycle. If you can break the cycle, even by going to the Self Help Group and realise that youre not alone, thats a great great step forward and its no looking back from there !!BUT take it from me... you gotta work at it and be prepared to get uncomfortable feelings, but thats what they are, feelings ! Best of luck
hi ann how r u hope u r doing well yes there r 2 centres in my area im going 2 try both programs hope itll help i know itll make me realise that im not alone how sad is it that so many people go thru this 2:( its a vicious circle and im determined 2 break it only because im so tired of feeling this way!
