I really feel as if I am really moving into the right direction although it has only been 8 days since my complete breakdown I already feel as if I am making progress for the better. Last night I went out and played a little softball which was my passion all my life until a year ago when it ended. I think for this past year I really didn't understand what I was going through. It was like for once in my life I was really alone and had to finally deal with my issues. Growing up whenever my mom was all messed up or the fighting and yelling was going on in the house I always had a place I could go to where it was peaceful. Then when I got to college I always had my friends and roomates to hang out with and have fun, but now a year ago I moved in with myu boyfriend and he was gone a whole lot because of his job and I didnt know anybody is when my "episodes" started. My mother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and then later on re-diagnosed with bi-polar disorder I thought that maybe I was experiencing the same thing with the mood changes and all. I still don't know, but now that I am getting my life back on track I feel pretty good. I made a friend, started working out again, graduating in Decemeber....things are started to look up and I hope that nothing can stop this track that I am on, but with this crazy life I don't know what will happen, just hope for the best!

Hi there!

I always love to read about people taking steps towards growth and mental wellness.  It seems you are on a really good path and I hope this steady progress continues for you.  I like to hear that you are doing things that bring you joy and that you have things to look forward to.

I understand that worry...when you have a parent who has a mental illness...in the back of your mind...you wonder if you will have the same mental illness.  I think you have to know that you are not your mom and...your life will be different just because you are you and nobody else.

So what do you think has helped you the most?  What things can you tell others which may help them along their journey?
