What my cats mean to me

By baby girl Monday, October 18, 2010

After being in a relationship which was both emotionally and mentally abusive, I thought I would never see the light of day. In December of 2007 I found out I was pregnant. Only because I had really bad pains in my lower abdomen. I ended up in emergency, where they rushed me in for surgery. Needless to say, I lost the baby. Unfortunately, I can never have kids now. Depression set in and I didn't want to ever get out of bed.

About 7 months later is when I found "Durango". She was orphaned and was in my backyard crying for the whole day. I couldn't take it anymore. It was so sad. My boyfriends(at the time), brother caught her for me. I spent the next four days and nights bottle feeding this baby kitty. We have been through alot over the last 3 years, and she has quite the personality.

I was taking medication for my depression, but because of a past drug addiction, it seemed as if nothing was helping. I stopped taking the medication. It was hard at first, but what helped me was coming home to find Durango sitting at the front door just waiting for me to come through that door. As soon as I opened it, she would meow, make this little noise, and come over to me and make me pick her up, where she would actually put her little paws around my neck as if to give me a hug. She definitely has made a difference in my life.

Hi there, Thanks for sharing your sad story . I couldnt have kids either when I was younger due to a dreadful incident so I understand.  I know you dont believe it now, but there is a life to be lived, even when u cant have kids.

I am happy you found out just how loving Cats can be People say they are selfish and dont love you - Rubbish !!  I have had abandoned cats all my life and have worked with them at shelters.   Her/his life is built around you and they are full of love and compassion and genuinely are very intelligent and communicative.

I find them very good when you are Depressed.  No doubt youve got the cat neutered as unwanted kittens are sad.  Its lovely to get a welcome home

Im glad youre getting so much pleasure from your pet

Oh my goodness...

I was not ready for your post.  It is really...meaningful to me.  I am a cat lover too and when I had a miscarriage my cats were there for me...they became my babies.

I am not sure what to say except...your story has really touched me deeply.  I am so glad you have your kitty.  They are so special aren't they?

Thank you so much for writing here.
