Hi Christie. My name is Debbie. I'm 48 and recently diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder. I was really very ill, even suicidal, which I would never do. But I was afraid I would snap and do something I couldn't take back. I am now seeing a good therapist and phycriatrist. I started taking Lexapro about 4 weeks ago. I started at 10 mg and now am at 20 mg. I do feel much better. I was told it takes 4 to 8 weeks for the full effect of the drug to take effect. I still have a long way to go to get better, but much of it is going to be therapy. I sleep alot, have to force myself to go out, once I do, I feel a bit better. Remember its one day at a time. I also feel the sleeping is my mind mending and adjusting to meds. Its important that u talk to your Dr. about everything, don't be afraid to ask questions and tell dr everything that u r feeling. You r not alone. Try to get some sunshine (15 minutes) everyday.
