Monday, February 18, 2008 at 06:36 PMHi Peanut,
A mood disorder doctor (psychiatrist) is a doctor of medicine. It is well known that severe depression has a biochemical basis and this doctor will treat this. A therapist is not a doctor. They are psychologists. They can help you to become mentally stronger and to deal with stress better. Long term stress can deplete the brain chemicals and cause depression. Some people are more sensitive to stress because they were born with a gene which means they use up these brain chemicals more quickly and don't make enough to replace them in times of stress.
Be careful about the post below about the glyco vitamins. Its sounds a bit like someone is using this space for advertising. See a doctor and specialist first. Best wishes Rusty

Depression and Diet
Martha Bush
Friday, February 15, 2008 at 05:47 PMMy sister took drugs of increasing strength for her depression for nearly 20 years, always wondering if things couldn't get better. She also suffered from CFS and bi-polar disorder.
Things did get better when she found glyconutrients. She is back to work and decreasing her meds for the first time in 15 yrs. Check out www.mannatech.com/mlbush and www.glycoscience.com
Best of Luck,
Martha

Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 12:33 AMDear Peanut,
I checked out the two sites I recommended. I could not bring up one and the other is under review at the moment. Sorry for the wild goose chase. If you could email me, I would send you some information from my personal files, articles etc. that used to be available on those sites: email me at mlbush@gmail.com.
You are not alone in this,
Martha

Hi Peanut,
You are doing the right thing. You cannot get over this by yourself and you will need help. Depression is not a weakness.....its an illness. I hope you have a really good doc who will refer you to a mood disorder specialist. My depression is completely under control now and you can be a lot better. You must keep going until you find something that works for you. It is also a good idea to have some cognitive therapy when you are feeling a bit stronger. Best wishes.....you do not have to live like this...life will be better in the future. Best wishes Rusty
