Woman indicted in MySpace suicide of a thirteen year-old girl who ultimately died by hanging herself

This is a tragic story involving a teenager and  cruel adult. In October of 2006 thirteen year-old teenager Megan Meier  committed suicide  after receiving cruel messages from a 16-year-old boy on MySpace.com. That boy, "Josh Evans," never really existed. He was allegedly fabricated by the mom of another girl who lived near Megan in suburban St. Louis. That woman, Lori Drew, was indicted Wednesday on federal charges.

Megan became severely depressed. Teen depression is very serious. Ultimately Megan hanged herself at home in October 2006 after receiving cruel messages, including one stating the world would be better off without her. What an incredibly mean, vindictive and calculating message for any thirteen year-old to read. Megan must have suffered terribly in silence before finally ending her life.

This disease is so misunderstood.  It's not like we enjoy having it or anything good grief!

The fact that people take advantage is disgusting.  I agree this woman should go to jail.  She has no idea the impact she made on Megan even still.  The heartfelt pain that teens feel are difficult enough for their young lives without adding malice to it.

This women should go to jail. she cause this girl so much pain. what'd she get from it. she probley felt good with her self knowing that shes hurting someone. no less a teenage girl i bet if you look at the messages they'll most likey say things like your fat and ugly you know those types of things. but its how those words hit that makes thme different.i myself am a teen and go thourgh the same things as this girl went thourgh. i will say yes that there have been times when ive felt like hurting myself but then i reailed that doing that show that they've won. i just dont listen to people who say things like that i know its hard for other people to do but just look at this if you hurt yourself you letting them win. so people stay strong dont let those words get to you be youself and dont take shit from anyone

I have read about this tragedy, and I just can't even conceive of how the girl's mother is able to sleep at night.  The correspondence she sent, ostensibly as a young teen-aged boy, is beyond reprehensible.  What kind of mother would do something so awful to a young woman?  I believe she should be punished as a murderer.  If she could do something so awful as to cause a teen-ager to take her life, she should be indicted for that murder.  What kind of role model does her own daughter have?  Can you imagine how her daughter feels about what her mother did?  Is this mother pleased with the outcome of her malicious correspondence?

Every time I hear about this tragedy, I cringe inside.  If I could get my hands on the mother, I am afraid of what I might do.  If she were to go to prison, she would probably need to be kept safeguarded in her own private cell.  What she did was so awful, that even hard-core murderers would frown upon her and what she did.  It is something like the "baby-killers".  And to what end did this woman do what she did?  Did it somehow make her own daughter more likeable?  Surely, this mother did not set out to physically harm anyone - or did she?

If  you (mommy dearest) are reading this, I hope you know that your soul will pay the price for what you have done.  It matters not, that you did not intentionally set out to kill your daughter's "friend".  What is done, is done.  You are a terrible role model for any girl to follow.  If you could be so vicious as to cause your victim so much pain and agony, and eventually, watch her die, then your heart is made of stone.  Are you proud of yourself?  Do  you feel so much better now that you murdered a young woman?  I hope they toss you into prison and throw away the key to your cell.  When judgment day comes, I am sure that you will be dealt with accordingly.
