This is a tragic story involving a teenager and cruel adult. In October of 2006 thirteen year-old teenager Megan Meier committed suicide after receiving cruel messages from a 16-year-old boy on MySpace.com. That boy, "Josh Evans," never really existed. He was allegedly fabricated by the mom of another girl who lived near Megan in suburban St. Louis. That woman, Lori Drew, was indicted Wednesday on federal charges.
Megan became severely depressed. Teen depression is very serious. Ultimately Megan hanged herself at home in October 2006 after receiving cruel messages, including one stating the world would be better off without her. What an incredibly mean, vindictive and calculating message for any thirteen year-old to read. Megan must have suffered terribly in silence before finally ending her life.

This disease is so misunderstood. It's not like we enjoy having it or anything good grief!
The fact that people take advantage is disgusting. I agree this woman should go to jail. She has no idea the impact she made on Megan even still. The heartfelt pain that teens feel are difficult enough for their young lives without adding malice to it.
