why depression?

I could never understand the cause of depression. I have been depressed myself in the past and it is the wors feeling ever. Sometimes I just wonder why Depression? I wish their were another explanation for how I feel. I wish someone could help me understand depression.

My Father is severely depressed

My father is really depressed and I'm really worried about him. He's extremely worried about finances. Especially since him and my mother recently bought a house before they sold their present house.
