Thyroid Issue vs. Depression

Okay, I hear that thyroid issues can be a cause of feeling this way. Please explain how that works.  And what do I ask my doctor to check about the thyroid? T4 level? What?Thank you.

I have been seeing therapists and pyschiatrists for 14 or so years. I have been through many talk therapy sessions until I have wanted to scream.
