Symptoms of dysthymia include feelings of hopelessness, insomnia or hyperinsomnia, low energy or fatigue, poor appetite or overeating, and poor concentration. The main symptom, however, is a low, dark, or sad mood almost every day for at least two years. These symptoms are less severe than in patients with major depression.
