Traditional treatments for depression are medications. Anti-depressants are used to suppress the symptoms of depression such as low moods and negative thoughts. These medications must be prescribed by a physician because they are often quite powerful and can have side-effects such as sleep issues, sexual problems or nausea. It is also important to find the right medication for you – not everyone responds similarly to the same medications.
