Postpartum depression is often diagnosed through a questionnaire conducted by your doctor.  It is characterized by depression after pregnancy. Treatment for this form of depression includes medication, therapy or a combination.  Certain antidepressants are appropriate for breastfeeding mothers, including nortriptyline, paroxetine and sertraline.
