Screening tests for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are done by a mental health specialist, such as a psychiatrist. The professional will ask the patient a series of questions to determine their level of depression or PTSD, and will ask about the event that led to the symptoms. New research suggests that a brain scan might be useful in further diagnosing individuals with PTSD.
