Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is an anxiety disorder that often occurs after experiencing a traumatic event. The body naturally defends itself against danger, and this could produce a reactionary response in the brain. PTSD has four major types: reliving the event, avoidance, numbing and hyperarousal. It is usually treated through psychotherapy, medication or a combination of the two.
