Hi Susan: Xanax (brand name for alprazolam) is excreted from the body in the urine and the feces (stools). According to the Center for Disease Control, 95% of the drug is excreted within 120 hours i.e., five days, mainly in the urine (88%). So it should still be detectable in the urine after 5 days. Alprazolam is a type of benzodiazepine. The detection period in the urine for benzodiazepines in general is 3 - 7 days. If you have a prescription for Xanax, tell your employer and show them your prescription. If you don't have a prescription for it, good luck.
