my wife is a normal healthy 45y/o except for one very odd thing. She is seemingly immune to alcohol.
I have watched her drink socialy or on vacation amounts of booze that would put me out like a light (I am a 40 y/o 280lb). one weekend away we drank a botle of Patrone,in a short ammount of time, I was trashed yet she was not even tipsy. Wine is the only exception, if she has wine (a bottle) she will get what you can consider a slight rection, but even then not falling down intoxicated. on the rare occasion that she will drink hard liquor, she can get sick and throw up.
DESPITE how it may sound we are not heavy drinkers or alcoholics, she has no over use tollerance. these are on occasions like Vegas trips or a cruise.
This immunity also extends to perscription medications as well. She is alergic to morphiene and recovered from disc surgery with Tylenol only. Various perscribed meds have no effect. Vicoden, valum, oxyco, percoset, flexeral, have no effect even at 2 to 3x the dosage she was supposed to take. She has told me that she has even (stupidly) taken these pills while drinking alcohol, and STILL she feels nothing. At a loss I even went so far as to get a joint for her to try, she has never smoked pot befor that day. I watched her smoke the entire thing and NOTHING not even the smallest reaction. Not exactly a clinical test, but still pretty amazing.
I dont know if it is related but she has started dieting, I needed to lose weight due to high blood pressure and she has adapted to my diet changes to be supportive. No more soda, more veggies, the gym 3x a week, she as even done 45mins on the treadmill at home that i do not. after one week i lost 13lbs,she has lost 1. While not over weight she has tried to diet in the past before a vacation or an event with no success, she also has not gained any weight either.
she mentioned the alcohol immunity to her doctor and after running tests and checking thyroid functions, she is fine. Since the ony real issue is she cannot loosen up with a social drink, her doctor says its not a big deal. but it is pretty damn odd.
Any ideas?
