Q: i can not lose weight around my midsection. is it my meds?

i've cut calories,increased physical activity and still carry the same weight around my midsection. i'm on 120mg. of Cymbalta.Wellbutrin XR 300mg,Clonozapan .05mg. I eat no candy or junk food and cut soda comsumption to less than one bottle. anyone have ideas on why i'm stuck on my weight? thank you, fred apel     PS i've had 3 back operations so doing sit ups is really tough.

It could be side effects of your meds, but it could also be something else entirely. Weight in the mid-section can sometimes be indicative of type 2 diabetes. Have you ever been checked for that? Have your thyroid levels ever been checked? If not, that's a simple matter of TSH, Free T3, and Free T4 blood tests. You might also ask your doctor for a referral to a nutritionist. Sometimes, when we cut calories, we end up with an eating regimen that really isn't balanced and doesn't promote healthy weight loss.

 

Bottom line, talk with your doctor about all possibilities.
