Barbi,

The answer to this depends on many things, including how high your Paxil dosage is, what other medications you're taking, and any other health issues you're dealing with.

I can tell you this though -- If your doctor won't discuss this with you, it's time for a new doctor!

Please keep us posted?

please understand I am no dr, just a wife who has seen her hubby quit paxil twice, the first time...pure hell! The first time, he just halfed his dosage every day and let me tell you the symptoms he suffered nearly killed us both!! I'm not sure how high your dosage is but there's actually a website called quitpaxil.org which addresses the withdrawl issues. When my husband quit the second time, I can't recall exactly but it seems like he got a dr with half a brain who advised him to invest in a pill cutter and start out by quartering all the pill, the first day I think he took 3/4 (almost a whole pill), the next day he took a whole one, ect...  this was a much longer process but the withdrawl symptoms were extremely mild in comparison to the first time he quit.  I hope this helps, my advice would be whatever you do, DO NOT go cold turkey off this med!!

Good luck!  also, let me just mention that if you are going off your meds, make sure you keep in touch with your dr, or someone who is close to you, as the depressed person is sometimes the last one to realize when the meds are or aren't working.
