Hi laideedikeller,

Thank you for your question! There isn't one direct answer to your question. The best medication for you will not be the best medication for someone else. There are many types of antidepressants on the market, and the newer medications are usually thought of as better than the old medications, ther'es not a clear distinction that puts one above all the rest. If you're not happy with the Effexor, talk to your doctor about switching to something else. Some common antidepressants include Paxil, Prozac, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Celexa, Luvox (all available in generic formulations), Lexapro, and Cymbalta. Not all of these medications may be appropriate for you, depending on your symptoms, other medications, and other medical conditions, but these are some options that you could ask your doctor about.

Best of luck,

Casey
