Pat,

Deplin is available by prescription only. If you go to their site, www.deplin.com, you can print a coupon for a discount program. Just look at the top of their site, on the right side, and click on ValueCardRx Program.

I checked out the assistance program on the Deplin site and though it may be good it is not available in my area.  Precisely speaking, my  adult son takes deplin (at $59.00) and in order to get the card you have to have a participating pharmacy.  There is none anywhere near me.  Frustrating.  His SSI/SSDI amounts to about $650.00 a month and that outlay is alot.

Just my input.

This is so messed up, you have to get a prescription or you can't get it, yet the insurance companies for prescription refuse to pay for it.

catch 22 all over again

Hello. In response, any doctor can fill out a form called a TAR (I'm unsure what that stands for), and I believe the insurance has to comply.  Check with your doctor and see if he/she can do a TAR.

Recently, I needed a NAME BRAND med, instead of the GENERIC for a diabetic med. My doctor filled out a TAR, and Blue Cross had to comply.  It was more expensive than the Generic, but the pharmacy was able to give it to me.

I am a Psychotherapist, and have seen this done a number of times.

Good luck
