would paxil make you gain weight?
Hi Dani:
I'm not a physician, but the truth is, all antidepressants can contribute to weight gain. The fact is, however, weight doesn't come out of thin air, it comes from eating. When a person is on an antidepressant, sometimes they need to change their eating habits, and exercise more. You can read more about Paxil here.
Best of Luck,
Dr. Diana Walcutt

Dr. Walcutt hit the "nail right on the head". None of these "feel better about yourself" drugs comes without a cost in addition to what you pay the pharmasist. An antidepressant may put a smile on your face, but it lowers your metabolism. So, in order to stay the same weight, you are going to have to burn calories in a slower and different way. There is no substitute for working out. Which can be anything from walking, running, going to the gym, etc. It is a simple adjustment that is much easier to say than do. But, once it becomes a habit, you will see and feel the difference.
