Hi Audrey

This is an excellent question and I wish I had an answer for you.  They answer is that we do not know yet.

On this psychiatry web site, the doctor there does not know the answer either as there have been no results from long term usage studies yet.

On McMan's Depression and Bipolar Web, John McManamy states that:

"In the meantime, we simply do not know the long-term effects of many of these drugs. Trials are typically conducted amongst rather small population groups for periods that tend to range from six to eight weeks. Year-long trials are an extreme rarity, and 10-year data of the newer antidepressants is simply not available."

Maybe you could tell us what effects you have personally experienced being on it for this long.  Is it still helping you?

Wish I could tell you more.

Thank you for your question.
