Hi bjdh:  Without having done an evaluation on your friend, it's impossible for me to even guess what might be going on. For instance, who diagnosed her with dementia and did they use the word Alzheimer's disease? You might want to go to the website Our Alzheimers to ask your question. You haven't mentioned the medication your friend is taking, but it seems evident that she should call her physician immediately with her issues. You could be describing a medical condition that isn't being treated, or that the medication being given to her isn't effective, or the medication she is taking has these as side effects which could be temporary.
