Q: I just got my blood test results back from my doctor. My hormones are high.

Before the blood tests she prescribed my prestiq. It seems that do not like it. Would I be better off with celexa or something else? In the past I took Prozac non generic. I did good on that although my insurance will not pay for non generic prozac. Do you know of any of the meds that are similar to prozac? I cant seen to get any answers from my doctor.

Hi Patricia

It seems that you are at that phase of really wanting to try a medication but are unsure of which one.  This can be a confusing time.

I think what you need to do is to do some research on your own to read about the different drugs, what they do, side effects, etc...to help make up your mind.  Nobody can make this decision but you.  One person can say they love Celexa and another can say they love Prozac...but other people are not you.  Nobody will know what is best for you...but you.

Look on the site for our search engine where you can search the site...it is located by the green "go" button at the top of the page.  Plug in the meds you are wanting to know about and see what information comes forth.

Also look for forums where the drugs you are considering are discussed.  Other patients usually have lots to say about how a drug had worked or did not work for them.

One thing to remember is that...there are no right or wrong answers here.  You will not know what a medication will be like until you try it.  You will have to take a risk at some point.

You can do this!

Thank you for your question and please do get back to us on what you decide.
