Q: My fiance has been feeling depressed. He has started taking medication and he seemed to be doing a little better and then 12 days ago he texts me at work and says he need to take a break.

He felt the walls were closing in and he had to get away. I worry about him and I don't know how he is doing. Should I leave him alone completely or should I push to get him home. I worry that alone his depression is just getting worse with no one to support him.

Hi there

I am a little confused.  Are you two living together?  And is he now not coming home?  And this has been going on for almost two weeks?  Have you had any contact with him since?

There is the possibility that he may be continuing to feel better and is re-evaluating his life and relationships.  One thing that a lot of people don't understand is that sometimes when people feel better and recover from depression...they may decide to change other aspects of their life including their relationships.

You do need some closure to this, however, so I would try to contact him at least once just to see what he has in mind for the future.  You do deserve an answer as to what he wants as far as a relationship with you or not.  If he still wants this "break" I would ask him if he wants it to be permanent.

We don't know him or your relationship though, this is up to you to decide what you would like to do.

Let us know what happens.  Remember to look after you first.
