Topics:IrritabilityDepressionAngerTreatmentmedicationAntidepressants

I'm a 16 year old guy diagnosed with depression 3 years ago. I was started on Lexapro, then started adderal, and then switched from lexapro to Prozac. Currently I'm on 20mg of both Adderal and Prozac. Lately I've been feeling like i'm regressing back into a state of depression. I've noticed I've enjoyed drawing and playing the drums less and less, and it's gotten to a point where i just go home from school and sit on the couch and stay there for the rest of the night. I don't like hanging out with my friends, and my dad tells me i'm really irritable. Has the medication stopped working? I'm really confused, and I'd like to resolve this as soon as possible so my grades don't slip more than they have.

Hi there

Was there a reason for the switch from Lexapro to Prozac?  Was the Lexapro working?  Whose idea was it to switch.

Well one thing about Prozac is that it can stop working after awhile for some folk.  And some people experience emotional numbness and apathy on it...it just depends upon the person.  Everyone will have a different experience.

I think that you should write down your symptoms and bring this list in with you to the doctor and see what can be done about a possible med change if things aren't working for you as they should.  Is there anything environmental going on...any new stressors to make you feel more depressed?

Please do see your doctor soon to get this taken care of...you are right...you don't want your grades to suffer because of this.

Let us know what happens.
