Q: My boyfriend has recently been diagnosed with General anxiety disorder. He has become completely obsessed with it and trying to find inner happiness.

He was diagnosed about 2 months ago and he began to get a bit better a few weeks and he began to be himself more and was laughing etc. All of a sudden he has gone back down hill and now he is totally obsessed by it and all he is doing is reading books about it and trying to get complete happiness. He doesn't want to do anything and he doesn't really care about anything else but himself and the disorder. I'm trying not to get emotional about it with him but it's really difficult. Is it normal? What can I do?

Hi there

I guess everyone has their own way of handling things.  But usually people won't find true happiness in a self help book.  But maybe some do.  Is your boyfriend neglecting you in this process?  Has he gotten any help for this through medication or therapy?

We do have an anxiety site you may wish to visit.  Here is information about generalized anxiety disorder.  Maybe reading about it will help you some.

He has got help and he did a course in Bristol that is supposed to help but he has come back worse. Now he isn't even talking to me, he wanted some space but he hasn't called me in a week and I really think I have lost him. I don't know weather I should keep trying  or I should just let him be.
