My PCP recently precribed Trazodone for my insomina, why would he precribe a antidepressent for this

Rosemary,

 

Trazodone is FDA approved not only for major depressive disorder, but also for insomnia.

 

It's really not unusal for some of the antidepressants to work well for insomnia, but in this case, the extra clinical trials have been done to prove that it's safe and effective for insomnia.
