Hello there

How are you able to get generic Lexapro?  I am reading that the generic version would not be available until 2012.

Here is information about Lexapro from Health Central.

On e-How Barb Nefer warns:  "Although Lexapro is protected by its patent until 2012, some Internet pharmacies advertise generic versions of Lexapro at ridiculously low prices. eMedTV warns that these medications are most likely fake, and they could be dangerous because you won't know what the pills actually contain. Even if the pharmacy advertises their generic Lexapro as escitalopram, beware. While escitalopram is the active ingredient in Lexapro, that is not the same thing as being a generic version of a brand-name drug."

And you might want to check out this article while you are at it about what may some may be calling generic Lexapro.

This is just what I found but...definitely talk with your doctor or pharmacist.  I am not sure what else to tell you.

Thank you for your question.

On this drug site they say this:

"It is dangerous to try and purchase Lexapro on the Internet or from vendors outside of the United States. Medications distributed from Internet sales may contain dangerous ingredients, or may not be distributed by a licensed pharmacy. Samples of Lexapro purchased on the Internet have been found to contain haloperidol (Haldol), a potent antipsychotic drug with dangerous side effects. For more information, contact the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or visit www.fda.gov/buyonlineguide."
