Q: Because I work nightshift, I take my Cymbalta 60mg in AM before going to bed. Dr. has prescribed Trazadone 100mg in addition. Is it OK to take both of these at the same time? (in AM)

Hi Kelly,

As both drugs will be in your system I'm not sure whether the timing will make much difference but your pharmacist may be able to give this advice, or your doctor of course.

I can't speak from any position of insight but when I looked up the drug combination of cymbalta with trazadone it does appear there is the possibility of a drug interaction. On the website Drugs.com they say:

"Combining these medications can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. You should contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms while taking the medications."
