Q: I recently started taking Lithium. Do I need to have regular blood tests now?

Found this at HealthSquare.com about Lithium: "

Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., kidney function, thyroid function, lithium blood levels) should be performed periodically to monitor your progress or check for side effects. Consult your doctor for more details."

 

Information from Drugs.com for Lithium had this quote: "Your doctor should monitor your blood lithium levels routinely to help prevent lithium toxicity."
