Q: My boyfriend has recently admitted he has a gambling problem. He is more than $ 10,000 in debt.

He is depressed and thinks his situation is hopeless. I'm looking for support for myself so I can help him through these times.

Hi,

I am not a doctor, therapist but I am a person who had a friend in a similiar situation.

An old co-worker had a similiar situation with her husband.  "Betty" first found a good therapist who was trained in working with addictions.  She than found support groups for people who were affected by gambling.  The therapy was quite helpful.

And she found the support groups extremely beneficial.

Take care,

how has his gambling affected your relationship? he could be headed for serious trouble an d he needs to be encouraged to seek help in the strongest possible terms. becoming depressed, while natural, is not going to help him get out of this whole he dug for himself.
