Q: I had what was called a "manic" episode.

I had what was called a "manic" episode.  This came after I was without my prescription for klonopin for 2 days, 3 1mg. tabs per day is the dosage I was on.  I was exhausted, couldn't sleep, was worried about my father who was in ICU from side affects from a cancer medication, and had extreme pain in my shoulder.  Have since had a shot of cortisone for that.  I am being given Geodon and don't want to take it. HELP  I am afraid of this med since doing research on it.

Fearful,

If you need some basic information about Geodon, you can find it HERE.

May I ask what your diagnosis is that you were taking Klonopin? BTW, there's info on Klonopin HERE. The prescribing information for Klonopin says not to suddely stop taking it. Is it the same doctor who prescribed the Klonopin who is now prescribing the Geodon?

The best thing I can tell you is to discuss our fears of Geodon with your doctor. He or she should be willing to discuss your fears and other options with you.

Good luck,

Teri
