Q: Going through major health issues, any advice on how to keep positive?

Hi all Back in September I was diagnosed with seizures but in the last two weeks they've gotten really bad. So much so that I can't go to school, or be left alone, I'm even having them when I'm asleep! Being at school and participating in school activities use to be what brought happiness to my day, and not feeling independent is making me feel like a real burden to others. More than that I've been tested, and in the hospital more than I've been at home. It's all so frustrating and upsetting to me because health related things have always been hard for me to deal with. Does anyone have ways of keeping positive when things are so upsetting? I'd really appriciate the advice Love to all! Izzy

Hi Izzy!

You know...I was just thinking about you.  I am glad you wrote.  I know we can't possibly understand what you are going through.  The closest I have come is with my MS related symptoms...there are days when I have bad spasms but it sounds like your seizures are severely disrupting your life.  Are there any medications that you have not tried or combination of meds to get this under control?  Are your doctors telling you anything that could be triggering such severe seizures?  What are your known triggers?

I would love to tell you that this is temporary...and I hope that it is.  I know it helps me to think that a medical symptom is not going to last.  Have you ever had the seizures this bad? Remind me...is this epilepsy and if so what kind?

I guess I would focus on what you can control right now and the rest...you will have to put on hold for the time being.  Try to eliminate stress or thinking you should be a certain way.  Right now you have to take care of you.

Please do tell us how you are doing in the days and weeks to come.  I am so sorry this has happened. I really hope your doctors find some treatment which helps you.
