I am looking for a chat group for people who are dealing with someone in their immediate family who is dealing with severe depression.  My fiance has been battling severe depression and anxiety for months and has just entered a 8 week inpatient program. I am looking for support for myself while he is there.

Hey Alison

I am so sorry that you and your fiance are going through this rough time right now.  It is a really good thing you are doing by reaching out.

There are some support groups on-line to help and the first link I will give you is the support group right here on Health Central for depression.

There is also a good group specifically for loved ones of a person who suffers from depression.  You may find this group here on yahoo groups.

I have also heard good things about Depression Tribe...some of my friends participate there.

Hope this helps some.

Please let us know how things are going for both you and your fiance.

Thank you for your question.

I admire you so much for looking for support for yourself while your loved one is dealing with these issues, I can tell you a good support system makes so much of a difference! Educating yourself, and remembering not to take things personaly, a person who is depressed may say things they don't really mean, remember they are in pain and it can be agonizing at times. It is so difficult beacuse a person my appear physically ok, but inside they feel like they are dieing. Your loved one really needs you now, your doing a wonderful thing sticking by them.
