Q: My friend is depressed according to school doc. The doc wants to prescribe him Wellbutrin

He is only 17 years old.  I don't think my friend has a severe depression.  What is the best treatment for him?  He might have mild or moderate depression.

Wellbutrin helped my husband. He sees a therapist, also.

Wellbutrin gave me uncomfortable side effects.

I hope you friend's doc is wiiling to work with him to find a med that helps and does not cause bad side effects.

Anti-depressants effect each person differently.

I agree, too, that seeing a therapist will be helpful.

Peace

Wellbutrin is a very good anti depressant, it has fewer side affect than a lot of the other anti depressants.  Also working with a psychologist so he can vent his feelings and get the proper feed back is important.  Using medication and talk therapy together helps some PT more than just medication or just therapy. Your friend should see improvement   Liz
