I would find a psychiatrist.  This is their specialty.  We see a specialist for other physical problems so why not when it is a mental health concern.  They will listen to every symptom you describe and have a better understanding of what is going on.  I went to my gp and was just given the pill of the month that they were promoting.  (Just my feeling).  I wasted a lot of time with him.  I finally got hooked up with a really good psychiatrist and it was a godsend.  Beware there are also bad psychiatrist out there to, I had one, so make sure you feel comfortable with whoever it is.  The one I finally found listened to everything I told him.  My initial visit was an hour.  Won't get that with a gp. I didn't hide anything from him, I told him how I was feeling plus he was able to see it physically, crying thru most of it and having major anxiety.    Now I see him monthly for 20 mins. which is plenty of time to let him know how I am doing and if any changes need to be made.  If I have questions he lets me ask them and will answer them.  I also tell him that I am going to call if I need to.  You really have to be proactive when it comes to drs.  Not all of them are good or know what they are doing.  Years ago I was put on something by a dr. and had a really bad experience from it.  When I went to psychiatrist he told me I should never have been given that from the symptoms I was describing.  I'm not wasting any more time on letting a dr. who sees me for 2 minutes to tell me what is going on.    Not all meds. work for the same person.  So why keep taking something that wasn't working.  My gp would get mad at that, my psychiatrist doesn't.  I had an appt. yesterday with him and he notices everything.  He said just by my eyes, my demeaner, the way I was tyalking, etc. he could tell I was doing better which I was.  So mine also notices my body language.  We both agreed I'm not where I want to be but it is much better.  I left there feeling really good about myself.  You need that kind of support and don't stop till you find it.

I'm with Sandy on this one. You need to see a specialist--in this case a psychiatrist. He/she can check you out more thoroughly, determine better what's going on and prescribe more appropriately.

From what you're saying (and I'm not a doctor--I don't even play one on TV Laughing ) it sounds like you've got an anxiety or panic disorder, which is common among those of us (like me) who battle major depression. The brain chemical serotonin is involved in both. Sometimes an SSRI (serotonin-enhancing) antidepressant will help with both, but not always. Didn't help me, so I take clonazepam (Klonopin) as well.

As for finding a good pdoc (psychiatrist), check http://www.nami.org (National Alliance on Mental Illness), click on "State and Local NAMIs" on the left side of the page, click on your state in the map that comes up and look over the list for NAMI affiliate groups in your area. You will meet other people battling the same kinds of things you are and their families, and can probably give you a good recommendation. And get involved--NAMI has been a lifesaver for me.
