Q: Trouble sleeping normally on seroquel--cannot sleep if i miss dose of it

Having trouble sleeping-taking seroquel for mood disorder-decreased dose messing my amount of sleep I get up-can only sleep for six hours at a time and thats it i can't even nap later-dose is only from 200 mg down to 100 mg ay bedtime

Tina, I think you need to talk with your doctor soon about this; he/she might decide to prescribe something else or in addition to what you're taking.  We're not medical doctors on this site, so can't really begin to speculate as to what might work for you.  You might also talk to your pharmacist for an opinion.

When I took Seroquel, I took 300mg morning and 600mg at night.  But it was for schizophrenia.  I had 2 major side effects.  One was I felt like it was difficult to breathe for a while after I took a dose.  Another was really freakishly horrible nightmares.  I did not find it sedating, either, although many people do.  It also seemed to interfere with my hormones.  I had already gone through menopause and with Seroquel, the hot flashes started again.

 

Your doctor might give you something like Trazodone to help with the sleep.  It helps me and was one of the older antidepressants.
