Hi there

Are you also suffering from Bipolar Disorder?  As these are medications used typically to treat Bipolar symptoms.

What were your expectations with taking these medications?  What did your doctor say to expect?  How long have you been taking them?  Sometimes it can take a good 6-9 weeks for the drugs to reach their maximum effectiveness.

Here is information for you to read about Lithium.

And here is information about Seroquel.

If you are not happy with your meds I would consult with your doctor and tell him or her why you feel they are not working for you.

Thank you for your question.

No, i don't have bipolar disorder. Only Borderline Personality Disorder, ADHD, OCD, and Manic Depression.

My expectations were for them to bring me out of my depressive state and put me into more of a content/neutral state as a "normal" day to day mood.

But it seems like they may be blocking me from being happy somehow, personally i feel worse taking them than i did without.

Hi there

Yeah...you might want to check out our Bipolar site then...Manic Depression is just another name for Bipolar Disorder.  Here is another link which explains:  "Manic depression is another term for bipolar disorder. Manic depression, a phrase that describes the extremes of mood associated with bipolar disorder."

Some people with this type of mood disorder miss their periods of feeling more manic when the medication takes this away.

I think too it is a common complaint of the meds that they tend to flatten you out emotionally.  That was my experience with Prozac.  You could sit me anywhere to watch the paint dry...I didn't care.

I would talk to your doctor to see what your options are.

Thanks for writing back.  We are here for you if need support.

well honestly bipolar does sound a lot like me, but i'm not diagnosed with it.

a lot of it comes from my borderline also i think.

i just want to be able to have the happiness again without the depression. hyperactivity is fine for me, i don't mind it.

but the depression/anxiety/and all together worry is making my life turn to nothing.

i'd rather not lose everything i have.

Hi,

my daughter has been diagnose in 2007 trouble of the personnality borderline, and her doctor prescribed 900mg lithium, and seroquel 100mg, synthroid100mcg, clonazepam 1.5mg, so just to tell you that she says not doing so good, it's been qhite a while now. she's has side effects, as getting fat, feeling cool, then hot, she sleeps days, and up at night, drinks a lot of water.  my girl feels terrible, sometimes thinks suicidal...i thought psychiatrics gave to their patients lithium when they suffer bipolar....i don't quite understand...thanks
