Hi Kathryn

Was the Cymbalta working for you?  This seems to be happening far more than it should.  Patients are being prescribed medications which insurance companies do not want to pay for.  But once you have taken the drug it is very hard to either get off of it or find a suitable replacement.

There are many antidepressant choices out there.

Here is our list of antidepressant drug information.

I know that both Target and Wallmart offer $4 generic medications.  You may want to check out their lists of inexpensive antidepressants.

Also here is the Cymbalta official website.  They do have a patient assistance program.

Here is the Lilly Patient Assistance Program and they offer help for patients taking Cymbalta.

Start with these links and see what your options are.  I am so sorry you are going through this.  I hope your doctor gives you another choice soon because Cymbalta withdrawals, from what I hear, can be difficult.

Let us know what happens.

Hi, there.  We aren't medical professionals, but your doctor would be the best person to help you with this.  If your insurance company doesn't want to pay for this drug, you can appeal that with the help of your doctor and you may actually get them to cover it.  I have done this myself several times on behalf of my son.  Sometimes I think insurance companies count on people not wanting to challenge them.  If this doesn't work, your doctor may have some other ideas about what may work.

Good luck with this - sorry I couldn't be of more help, but thanks for your question.
