A buddy of mine is disabled, he is a severe depressive with suicidal tendencies. For this reason they have him on a cocktail of anti-depressents. On top of this he has just been diagnosed with diabeties which only ads to the problem. After looking up some of these drugs many of them have side effects dealing with body odor. Now mind you I know he takes good care of him self hygine wise. The odor presists. Changing meds is not really an option as it has taken almost 3 years to get it right.
Some people might take the disability and not bother with anything else but my friend has worked up the courage and the will power to return to school getting his GED and is now working on his asst degree in electronics. Yesterday Jan 13 10 he was taken aside and told his BO was disrupting the class, thought they played it cool it was clear that he was to do something about this or they would throw him out.
seeing as this BO is a side effect of the meds for his disability and Diabeties only amplfies this, Can they discriminate like this, can they kick him out even with the disabiliy paper work? Should he be looking into getting a lawyer? Is this covered under the Americans with Disabilities act? Any information you can pass along would be great. I am his best friend and i will be damned if i let this go unchallanged.
