Fatigue is overtaking me

Topics:Fatigue and anxiety

I suffer from fatigue especially in the morning. I can sleep 8 or 9 hours get up prepare for work, shower, eat a healthy breakfast and within an hour I am back in bed sleeping for an hour or sometimes 2. I am taking zoloft daily for my anxiety which I have suffered for over 10 years, had numerous blood test administered (which all come back normal), seen psychologist, and for walks, and nothing seems to reduce my fatigue. Even though this is not a healthy method I have drank one Red Bull and two Mountain Dews in the morning and I do feel better. I would like to know if anyone could suggest something healthy to take in the mornings that would help with my fatigue?

I take excedrin sometimes, but it is kind of the same think as the drinks--caffiene.  Have you had your thyroid checked?  It might be related to a thyroid problem.

P.S. what do you consider a healthy breakfast?  Some people who are anxious or depressed also have food alergies such as casine (cheese) and glutin (wheat) or a sensitivity to sugar.

I have to take my antidepressents at night and Super combo or Stress B vitamins in the morning to wake up or I have the same problem.  It was especially bad when I changed to Lexapro.  I was exhausted for over two months and could easily take 30 minutes or more to get out of bed.  If I sat still, I could fall asleep.  I just know I have to take B6-12, combination Vitamin and I crash about lunch time and have to do it again.  Maybe you are needing some sort of supplement?

Girlfriend I on't know, but I suffer from the same thing and I take effexor-it gives me a great sleep at night but the days are rough. I take mine at night. Try the vitamin B's-they are good and see if you can get a B-12 shot. That sometime helps.

I take effexor and sometimes think it might be making me sleepy so much of the time, but then again I have always had a hard time getting up in the AM no matter how much sleep I've had, so I can sympathize.

The others gave good advice: get your thyroid checked, try vitamin B.

what is your healthy breakfast?  It should include protein, that could help.  just carbs for b'fast might make you sleepy.  (If i ate bagels for b'fast, I would sleep all day.)  green tea (it has caffeine) would be better than red bull and mtn dew, since it doesn't have all the sugar.

Don't have an answer but can relate:

I've had the same problem for 7-years. The psych meds would actually make me more tired and didn't see where they restored energy. I seen the doctor, blood sugar was high, cholesterol was a bit up there and the thyroid and other tests are fine. I'm also 300 lbs. Still, there is a problem with fatigue even with the weight problem being up and down and that's what the doctors have failed to get to the bottom of.

No matter what I do, I'm still very fatigue and it's worse when I'm working and have chores to do. I can relate to you very well and I hope that our doctors can treat us somehow.
