Hello again

There is a wonderful site on-line called Meet Up which has a ton of social and activity groups listed for your local area.  There are meetings for discussing books or drinking coffee...seeing a movie...and they also have support groups such as for social anxiety or depression.  I would give this a try.  If you do please come back and report about your experience.

Hope this helps some.  This is a really good idea for you to explore making some new friends and connections.

Hi, Bluephoenix.  Maybe you could make a list of things you are interested in, then see if you can find any groups or clubs with like-minded people.  Or, if there's something you've been wanting to learn, you could take a class at a local college or community center.  There are many non-profit organizations that are always looking for volunteers, where you can commit to as little or as much time as you want.  If you go to a church, they usually have social clubs of some type or another.  Do you have any friends?  These would be good places to see if you can meet people you enjoy being with, then maybe they would be agreeable to meeting for coffee or lunch or whatever.  I'm home alone three days a week and I can get caught up in my own little world, but it's not that often because I make myself stay in touch with friends, whether in person or the internet.

I hope this gives you some ideas - thanks for your question!

why not try visiting elderly people in a nearby nursing home? i worked in one for a while, older people love to visit, and most of them dont have family that will take away from there lives to just sit and visit.
